Gleam plates turned out to be a very popular Christmas gift among private donors, which means that the artwork Horizon will again grow in length. After December, there were less than 1,500 available gleams remaining, so the campaign is now clearly over the half-way mark. By the end of December the campaign, which was initiated in the summer of 2013, had raised almost €140,000.
Companies were also active donors at Christmas time. More than 50 companies, including 30 new supporters, made donations to the Clean Baltic Sea projects. All in all, Christmas donations from companies amounted to approximately €75,000. The companies who made a Christmas donation are listed below.
The winner of the Christmas campaign raffle and the prize of Alpo Tuurnala’s new book Luotsisaaren tarina – Merimatkoja menneeseen (the Luotsisaari story – sea voyages to the past) is Emmi Korhonen from Oulu. A total of 387 electronic Christmas cards were sent, and 235 electronic Christmas card senders participated in the raffle. The raffle was drawn on 8 January 2014 by Erik Båsk, Secretary General of the John Nurminen Foundation.
