Give an intangible Christmas gift
– save the Baltic Sea
Give a gift that truly matters: a healthier Baltic Sea
This is a gift that lasts a lifetime – and far beyond. One that future generations will thank you for. But it’s something we can only achieve together. You can help by choosing a part of the sea to protect, either for yourself or as a special gift for someone else. You can also support the restoration work with a donation of any amount.
Why donate at Christmas to the Baltic Sea?
The Baltic Sea is so eutrophic that the blue-green algae rafts that float on the surface of the sea in the summer look like aurora borealis.
If nothing is done about it, it will affect much more than the appearance of the sea, for example swimming and fish stocks. Action is needed now. The effects on the coming summer can already be seen in the wintertime. The less ice cover in the winter sea and snow on the ground, the more likely the eutrophication can be seen in the summer.

Donate as a company – give an intangible gift
The main environmental problem in the Baltic Sea is eutrophication due to excessive nutrient load, but oil and chemical transports, loss of nature and climate change also threaten the Baltic Sea. With the donation, help us at the John Nurminen Foundation to do concrete work to save the sea. Give a gift to your stakeholders or staff this Christmas that none of us have yet: a clean Baltic Sea. Donate to the rescue work!
Donation amount
As a corporate supporter, you get access to materials that you can use to tell your stakeholders about the donation. You will be able to add your company’s logo to our website after the payment. If you need an invoice for your donation for accounting purposes, click here: Donate via e-invoice

How will my donation be used?
Reducing eutrophication
When you donate, you support concrete work to save the Baltic Sea. We reduce the nutrient load of food production and forestry, and thus reduce eutrophication. We also reduce the nutrient load by other means, e.g. by restoring peat production areas.
Reducing emissions from maritime transport
When you donate, you support our work to reduce emissions from shipping and ports. We are developing ways to stop chemical emissions from tankers and to minimize emissions from loading ships.
Prevention of nature loss
Your donation supports our work for biodiversity. Prevention the loss of nature requires reducing emissions and restoration work. We restore key marine species and subsurface habitats to a vibrant marine ecosystem.
Strengthening the human relationship with the sea
With the help of donations, we strengthen people’s relationship with the sea, so that people are ready to make concrete changes in their everyday lives. We publish books, organize exhibitions and events, and coordinate the annual International Baltic Sea Day.

Donate as a private person – give an intangible Christmas gift
This Christmas, give an intangible gift to your loved ones and help the Baltic Sea. A healthy Baltic Sea is a gift that no one has yet.
Make a Christmas donation to the John Nurminen Foundation by saving a piece of the Baltic Sea or make a one-time donation. In the order confirmation, you will receive a diploma of your donation, which you can give to the recipient of the gift.
